Have two rectangular shaped skylights…my husband and I have already installed metal roofing on part of our house, now moving on to the part that has the skylights. Want to be sure to do it correctly so we won’t have leaks. Should we just cut the metal holes out and silicone around the edges or is there more to it than that? Please advise.
Torch Down roof may have damp plywood underneath before installation. Is it a problem?
Because of continued wet weather it has been a few days before the roofer can begin finally installation of the torch down roof. The fiberglass?tar-paper was installed right after the decking was put on. However, it leaks and has leaked for three days of constant rain. Will this be a problem during installation of the torch down roof membrane or later, down the road??
What are the different types of roofing projects that exist?
I have a roof that I want to get some work done on but I’m confused as to how many types of standard roofing projects exist. My roof doesn’t have any structural issues, leaks or problems that I know of at this time. Howver I think it was patched at some point because there are some shingles that are of a different color. I have heard so many different types of roofing work that I am confused? What are the different ways that a roof is worked on and how do different roofing projects differ from each other (longevity, cost, time frame for work)?
Who do I turn to regarding faulty roof installation?
I bought my house and decided to have my roofer inspect the roof.
This is what he found.. Rusting nails visable and not caulked, facia board not covered, nails rusty and close to transitions, rusty nails not pounded down and damaging shingles laid above them, broken shingles all over roof, shingles with nail holes in them, and shingles nailed down over other shingles as if to cover a problem. This is occuring over the entire house. I do not have any leaks as yet but fully expect that to occur within 3 years. This roof could not have passed inspection but apparently did. Outside of contacting legal representation who can I turn to. I allready went back to the builder who had someone come back and told me that they had fixed all the problems which was obviously not the case. I have pictures.
What type of roofing should I use to replace current roof?
I need to replace my current roof. My roof is a flat type roof and I was wondering which type of roofing I should replace it with? Should I use the modified bitumen or the built in roofing with tar/gravel. Which type would last the longest and easy to maintain? I’ve been experiencing some leaks and molding in the house and the roof is in bad condition.
